the friday after thanksgiving

so, I'm contemplating my next move.  what to do?  I'm typically paralyzed knowing I have time for me.  I have a list and I can't decide what to do first.

I went to Starbucks in the Safeway across the street.  Jack called about watching the last few episodes of season 3 of True Blood.  going to his house means I need to shower.  really not motivated to do that.

so, in procrastination, I've made a cup of tea and ate some apple cranberry cobbler/crisp with whipped cream.  I also finished watching Letters to Juliet in my efforts to waste time.  I was also watching episodes of Dr. G, Medical Examiner.  why is it you watch a show you rarely watch and you end up watching a re-run???  why never a new episode?

did y'all get enough to eat yesterday?  Donna and Gregg did a huge spread and sent me home with tons of leftovers.  can't wait to repeat that dinner!  LOL!!!

I worked on a few ornaments recently.  I got the idea for the round ones from Nina Bagley.  Nina's work however is incredibly lovely..she uses all vintage beads, paper & lace, copper, and I just used cardboard and beads and charms from my box.  That idea spurred me to make the rectangular ornaments, I used photos from the back of a calendar.

Revised piece for Simply ArTistiC, Rob Ryan inspired, for the Typography prompt.
Rob Ryan inspired Beta 1.
Rob Ryan inspired Beta 2.
Mickey icon head inspired : .)
Martha punch.  Boy was it difficult to make the little Santa hat!
I think I'll put up the Christmas tree and decor tomorrow : .)

Scrapping the Music Guest Designer Week 2 - Need You Tonight by INXS

My second Scrapping the Music guest designer assignment was to scrap
Need You Tonight, by Inxs.

Inxs was a large part of and hugely important to my formative high school years,
heh heh!!!

I was brainstorming my piece and
remembered this photo that's been in my stash forever.
Its an ad for flooring, but I love it, so I had to use it!!!

I choose these lyrics to compliment the photo...
So slide over here, and give me a moment.
Your moves are so raw,
I've got to let you know
I've go to let you know...
You're one of my kind!!!

Grace and beauty all in one place!!!

Oh, and happy turkey day!!!

Scrapping the Music Guest Designer - Upside Down by Jack Johnson

I was asked to guest design at Scrapping the Music for the month of November!
Isn't that waaaayyy cool?!
I'm soooo honored to be invited!!!

My first assignment was to scrap Jack Johnson's musical expression, Upside Down.
Not only is this a wonderful song, but it has a great video
which is done with bits from the Curious George movie.

One of my Sisters of My Heart, Kath,
sent me this photo of her son D with his sister's pig, Hiccup.
Immediately, I knew it was the perfect photo for the Jack Johnson song.
Annie decided to raise Hiccup for Future Farmers of America this past year.
As she's a beautiful, empathetic, and highly sensitive girl,
Auntie Linda had no qualms quickly calling Mom
to express her anxiety regarding the end result of the girl raising this pig
and how it would affect her.
I was quite worried!
Kath and I had many conversations on the subject.
And in the end, Kath convinced me Annie was up to the task.
What we never thought of, however,
was how little brother D would be affected
knowing Hiccup's ultimate fate.

D had a real hard time after Hiccup was shown at the fair
and sold to the highest bidder.
He had to go back and see Hiccup a last time to say good bye.
(This picture was shot by one of the moms of one of Annie's classmates on Hiccup's final day at the fair.)
I felt these lyrics fit perfectly with how I guessed D was feeling when the photo was taken
and how much he cared about the pig.

Sweet boy!

Here's my piece...

well hello friends!

I have had a productive day!

slept in - check!
went to the flea market to get sunglasses* - check!
went to Michaels to buy spray glue for a project - check!!!
popped into the scrapbook store - check!
did 3 loads of laundry - check!
made a knock-off version of SBuxs passion tea lemonade - check!
cleaned my bedroom, the bathroom, and the kitchen - check! (boy, did I NEED to clean!)
wrote and addressed postcards for Postcrossing - check!

I didn't wear "the boot" all day. {don't tell Dr. Rob!) I didn't wear it to the flea market.  imagine lugging around a 10 pound baby that's attached to your foot that you have to be really careful of and not dislodge.  its quite annoying and awkward (and not really 10 pounds, it feels like it however!!!)  especially going up & down stairs.   it makes me miss running.  a lot.  I don't like it.

but, enough complaining!  das boot is a necessary evil.  for now.  not forever.  better not be for long!

*I have a funny story...

I'm not good with sunglasses (probably like most people).  I have lost or damaged many a pair.  once, I left a pair on the top of half dome.  I closed the trunk of my car on my favorite pair many times until they finally broke. I broke a pair by sitting on them while I was doing H2C. there have been many others that have been left somewhere, dumbly broken or have just gone missing.  I started buying really inexpensive sunglasses because I can't be trusted with an expensive pair.  last weekend, I lost a silver & bleu pair when Shan spinned the car in Buzz Lightyear's Astroblasters at Disneyland (so I couldn't score more points than her, evil witc...) and they flew off my head.  today I made a trip to the flea market to buy yet another inexpensive pair.

AND guess what?

Disneyland shipped me the silver & bleu pair, I got 'em today.  (DL has a cool lost & found process.  lucky for me.  I hope lucky for the other lady at the L&F with me who was looking for her Coach wristlet with her drivers license, credit card, and $400 cash.)

I should have waited...

story of my life.

the same thing happened when I lost my favorite fiskar scissors.  I found the old pair in my sewing box right after I bought a new pair.  I also lost my iPod shuffle.  I bought another one and of course, the original fell out of a pair of shoes I had in my locker at work just a day later!!!  why can't that happen with $100 bills?!

ha ha on me!  is that murphy's law, karmic justice, or ???  does it happen to you?  do tell!!!

oh, and my cousin (2nd cousin) is at Disneyland this weekend for her b-day.  her husband planned a huge celebration and bot her a princess cake!  they're staying at the Grand Californian!  I am jealous.   but I'm guessing Disneyland would loose its shiny if I went too often, right?!   heh!  I should see if the girls want to stay in the snazzy hotel the next time!!!

alrighty then...

I am quite hungry.  I got some rosemary garlic chicken with pasta in the making and another glass of wine calling my name!  I might even eat some butter and brown sugar for dessert, LOL!!!  or maybe just drink another glass of wine.  or stagger across the street to Safeway and get some Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia.  wearing the BOOT!  snort.

I hope y'all enjoy the rest of your weekend.

{p.s. public service announcement - plz. don't drink and sharpen knives. the end.}

revise and redesignate!

ok, so I cheated a bit...

I made this piece a long time ago, but to make it fit with the current challenge at Scrapping the Music, I "revised" it : .)  added a new title, a redesignation!  hee!  (oh gawd!  job references!  what is this world coming to?!)

this week's song is Keep the Faith, by Bon Jovi.

Jon Bon Jovi...sigh.

oh, sorry...I got distracted, heh!

anywhoo, I'm tryin' to "keep the faith" ya know...kissin' a lot of frogs to find the handsome prince.  (okay, not really.  one can dream!)

then again, maybe I should be keepin' with the frog, LOL!!!

das boot

oh wait, that means THE BOAT!!! damn those other languages!
does it look like it belongs to Darth Vader?
and too late for  Halloween!!!
it sure feels like a boat.  a large boat.

so, it turns out that I am SUPERHUMAN!!!
I have ACCESSORY OSSICLES!
really!
xtra bones next to the cuboid bones in both feet!
(see the little nubby* by the square-ish bone underneath the 5th metatarsal?)

cool huh?!

*scientific term.

unfortunately, the one on the right has irritated my tendon.
Doc sez the injury is like a stress fracture,
and
he wants me in "the boot" for 4 weeks minimum.
(which btw, is totally awkward & weighs a ton!!!)
he also prescribed an anti-inflam and
I need to use an anti-inflam cream.

ei yi yi!!!

yep, that means no running.  none, nada.
and no training for DWM, sigh.

luckily for all my friends and co-workers, I can go to cycle class!!!

hallelujah!!!

Elle Bee!!! you have impeccable timing!
I think you're right and that book is right up my alley.
and now I have time to read it!!!  LOL!!!
merci beaucoup!
I l.o.v.e that you only paid a dollar for it!!!

Pens also sent me a great book by Michelle Belanger about Dreamwalking.
thanks Pens!!!

books are awesome!!1
