Sunday Night

This evening I boiled eggs until the water disappeared. There was the smell and there was this weird crackling sound.

I was distracted.

Dropped half my clean laundry on the floor of the laundry room.

I was uncoordinated.

I think its time for bed.

Art:

OBEY Butterfly - Art card, #9 In the butterfly series.
Inspired by (Frank) Shepard Fairey and the OBEY Giant phenomena.
Yeah, I don't know what I was thinking either!

I take that back, one of the security guards at work has an OBEY poster of Hillary Clinton pointing out like that "We Want You!" guy encouraging men to join the army. Is that Uncle Sam? Urgh, it is late...

Butterflies are so innocuous, ya know?!

OBEY Butterfly!!!

Time Flies - Art card, #10 in the butterfly series.

Doncha just love the crackle paint?!

Chilaxin'. This wasn't on the art agenda this weekend, it kinda just created itself.
Inspired by the art goddess, MandyKay : .)

Mandy, I tried the current Sketch This challenge, #54!

I'm holding a bottle of that new Miller Chill. Its a LIGHT beer, tastes like it, and is only 2 Weight Watchers points. Its selling point, I believe is supposed to be the hint of lime and salt flavor, but it doesn't taste like lime or salt until its warm. And Miller is ick when its warm!

Close-up of the skellies!

Some art cards for my SiStv Happy Mail Swap partner Sarah. I hope she likes 'em!
(Check the Mandy influence goin' on with the last card!)

Working on a trade for Brandy over at SiStv too.

Ragged, I swear, your album is NEXT : .)

Crafty Morning

Took this cute, cute tag class from Kerry Lynn Yeary today.

Didn't learn anything new, but...

It was fun to use so many different types of media and techniques: paper, old quilt bits, felt, embroidery, shipping tags, transparencies, stickers, vintage sheet music, pleating.

There's something soothing and comforting about running a needle and thread thru cloth and pleating paper. Maybe its the repetition? Traveling back to simpler times? I just don't know!

I did take artistic license, changed some of the words and modified the words and the decorations on the HAPPY tag : .) GRACE is a nod to my girl, MadRetz.

Otherwise, been lazing the day away, as its quite hot. Walked over to the really small art show at the museum on the next block (I can hear the jazz music from my apartment!), had a chai, did a short 7 mile run. Debating what to cook for dinner...

Good stuff!

Fudgesicles and Green Turquoise

Sittin' here eatin' my second fudgesicle instead of the piece of cake I wanted. sigh. At least they're only 2 Weight Watcher's points a piece. Add to that a group of grapes, 3 corn tortillas with mantequilla, a scoop of cookie dough, and a mini pack of pez.

Indecision...YES!!!

Cooking...NO!

So, it hasn't been such a healthy fuds day. I'm still contemplating getting off my big butt and going to Safeway for that cake!!!

OK, what is really going on here??? I need to sit still with it and process instead of eating random stuff. Eek!!!

Posting pixs of the necklace I made as part of a trade with MandyKay. She got the necklace today
: .) The photos do not do it justice, the necklace is really pretty IRL. I was really pleased with the outcome. Green turquoise, (I don't think it comes like this naturally, it must be dyed) copper spacers, multiple seed beads, handmade Etsy charm. Fun to make!!!

Random art tip...I found this on the DIY network. A tutorial for wood-grain paper! Wood-grain is HOT!!! If you try it, let me know how it turns out!!!

Ok, done typing...Over and out, Peeps!!!

Frog Princes and Wood Nymphs

Been feelin' like a homebody these days, not interested much in interacting with the world at large. Did get invited to go dancing on Saturday night, but a little stomach bug decided to make a visit, so after my run on Saturday am, I was stuck at home.

Did some more scrapbooking, those 2 pages took the entire weekend! Sheesh! MadRetz took this pix of me at an antique store in Sonora. (We were visiting her cabin.)

"You have to kiss a lot of FROGS...Still looking for PRINCE CHARMING. Maybe the FROG is the better choice!"

Silly, but oh so true for moi! Also, gotta love those photobooth strips! If you wanna know how to make 'em, here's a tutorial. I used PhotoShop Elements 3.

The other layout was inspired by MandyKay. MadRetz took this pix while we were on a little nature hike, visiting Mendocino/Fort Bragg in 2004. (4 years ago, my goodness time flies!!!). Mandy custom made the mushroom, which I purchased from her Etsy TheLilMonsterShoppe.

That's it!!!

Monday always comes so quickly!!! Off to bed for me, work tomorrow!!!

Be well friends!!!

Little Things Make Me So Happy!

The planets aligned today...

50% off coupon for Michael's, this punch was in stock, and it wasn't already on sale!!!

I had to have this butterfly punch (yes, because of my obsession with craft products of all kinds &) because the little butterflies make this person's layouts so very cool!

Awesome time spent at Disneyland this past weekend, got great pixs,
but too lazy to upload at the mo'.

Will do a longer post soon!

Yo Peeps!!!

I know, long time no post. Been bizee, (and a bit sad lately) but also didn't feel like I had anything important to say.

Lets see...working backwards, just finished these ATCs, the theme was inspired by the movie Juno! Phew! I am so done with doing ATC (artist trading card) swaps for awhile. For the past couple of months all I've felt like I've been doing are these swaps!!! Yikes! No art for phin makes phin really cranky!!! Click on this link to see the full description at SiStv. Photo taken by my Soul Sista MadRetz! She's a rockin' photog!!!

Drove by Santa Clara University where there's a clothing store called "Nalej." Ironic that its next to the PRIVATE, JESUIT, EXPENSIVE, EXCLUSIVE, RENOWNED INSTITUTE OF HIGHER LEARNING. Maybe they think the name is clever. uh huh.

Recently, been craving fried chicken like mad, so I stopped by University Chicken (formally know as Cluck U, haha!) also near the University to get me some finger lickin' vittles! They serve chicken wings, with 7 levels of spicy-ness:

global thermo nuclear
thermo nuclear
traditional death
nuclear
atomic
traditional
mild

Being fairly chicken, ahahahaha (I crack myself up!) I stuck with traditional, OH YUM!!! I ate ALL 10 wings!!! And the bleu cheese dressing and uh of course, the celery! My tongue was all tingly!

(I was quite hungry...I worked out for 2 hours this morning!)

Yesterday, I hit Rubberama (rubberstamp vendor convention) with my friend Mary. I really need to be on a craft budget, especially since I had a ton of work done on my car last week...cleaned fuel injectors, power steering flush, inspection, (b/c SATURN told me that I needed $2300 worth of work on the car after the fuel injectors and ps flush!) new windshield, new front brakes, new brake lights...BUT the temptation, oh the temptation!

I got some cool iridescent paints, a few stamps, vintage ephemera, a mini rubber chicken, and the piece de resistance, leather barbed wire!!! Yahoo!!! Git 'em, Doggie!!! I think I'm gonna make a necklace and who knows what else, wrapped hearts, Texas layouts, hum???

Also on Saturday, I found an Aussie store in Santa Clara. This is important b/c I did a trade with Sharmaine and in the package, she included TIM TAMS!!! OhMyBuddha!!! I thot I had died and gone to heaven after eating these chocolaty, crunchy biscuit balls!!! They had them at the store, along with some cool aboriginal art, Aussie fuds, clothing, and cheezy Australian tchotchkes! The only scary/weird thing is that they were expired, like a lot of the fuds in that store. I suppose that is to my benefit, as the USA has not caught on to the tasty-ness of TIM TAMS! All the more for me!!! The cutest thing I saw was a tiny glass kangaroo who's pouch was distended to hold a mini jar of Vegemite!!! Nope, didn't buy it. Vegemite is really gross!!!

Speaking of thermonuclear, I went to see Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. I gotta go see it again, b/c I am convinced in the beginning of the movie that Indy sez something to the effect of "I was just in a 'nucular' explosion!" Taking cues from our exhalted President, I hear...The movie was good tho'. I liked it better than that middle Indiana Jones...aliens, crystal skulls, good vs evil, thermonucular explosions!

Had dinner with an old friend last Wednesday. Turns out, we think a lot a like. We were going to see Chuck Palahniuk (author of many books, including Fight Club, Survivor, Rant, Choke, Invisible Monsters, to name a few) in the city, but Steve's schedule is wonky, so we missed out on tixs. Ended up going to dinner instead, but when I called him to confirm, we were both like "Dude, the hockey game is on! <"Dude" Shakes her head! LOL!> We gotta go some where we can watch the game." (Pittsburgh Penguins are fighting for the Stanley Cup against the Detroit Redwings!) Tasty fried prawns, pear ale, lots of laughs, good company!!! Ooooh, he let me drive his Saab!!! OHBOYOHBOYOHBOY!!! It has this "sports" package, you push this button and blast off as if you were a rocket. I would say its like having NITROUS!!! I would love a car like that, but I'd also get my license suspended for excessive speeding tickets, hee!

Other than that the usual: workouts, hair dying, bang cutting, dishes, laundry, work, blah, blah, blah, blah...

Next week will be filled with fun and adventure! Tomorrow, concert buddy Paul and I are going to see Mike Ness (lead singer of Social D!) who's embarking on his first solo tour. Music may be too country for my liking, but I'll just stand below the stage and drool, hee!!! cycle class, dinner with the X-Sis-in-Law to see her Scotland pixs (and get goodies!) and ...

DISNEYLAND!!! (with the SoulSista!)

WhooHoo!!!

Grilfiend is gettin' outa Dodge!!! I can't wait!!!

Habe a gud week!!! : .)
